Reviews:

EQUILIZING DISTORT (CANADA)
This band doesn’t blink. Another consistently incredible release of straight forward attack thrash that goes for the juggular. The vocals sound distinctly like Jerry A’s of Poison Idea. The hardcore is basic sounding, but the songs are all anthems. The energy is relentless, the songs are driving, the record is over before you know it. The track "Repellent" sounds uncannily like Black Flag’s "Police Story", but for the most part Out Cold sound like a thrash version of Poison Idea during their "Kings of Punk" period. It’s fuckin’ flawless, as far as hardcore goes.

MAXIMUMROCKNROLL #225
I could run this review like those appearing everywhere else, where I castigate 'the scene' for it's crimes of jackass-ery related to the lack of fame for these barbarians from the wilderness of the American Northeast, but up until a year-and-a-half ago I was one of those jackasses.  Don't turn the page when I compare these tunes to the sound of a young America in 1982, allow me to qualify that assertion.  None of our heroes from those days had Out Cold's precision and speed in their rough-hewn guitar blasts.  Out Cold aren't ready to fight, they're ready to maim.

RAZORCAKE #6
I'll make this as short as their CD.  Out Cold have picked up the torch that Negative Approach extinguished when they broke up.  No small feat.  No short time in coming, they've apparently been around for years and years.  But get this: they springboard beyond the shadow cast by NA.  They're more brutal, heavier, faster and angrier than any other band that I've heard in a long, long time.  And behind the thrall are some fast-locking, oddly melodic instrument interplays that separates them from pure thrash, blurcore, any semblance of pop, and puts them in a very rare league indeed: straight-ahead, non-relfexive hardcore.  By the strength of this CD and a tape Jimmy Alvarado made me, I'm in the process of ordering their entire back catalog.  They lay waste to all that metally, grab-yo'-nuts play acting, and all that 'weren't the early-80s great?'-core that's been replaying a little bit too close to history as of late, and get down to brazen business.  Fourteen songs, nineteen minutes and five seconds long.

FACE UP TO IT #2 (FINLAND)
Because their gig was sooo good, I had to buy this record, too. And I think this is better than forerunner Two Broken Heart Are Better Than One (and after the gig, I've also started to dig Two Broken Hearts more). The style is maybe more rockish, and they do something more with guitar than just riffs. Fortunately not much more. Music is just like hardcore-punk should be: fast and angry. I like Mark Sheehan's voice a lot, sounds little bit like Black-Flag-Henry if we like to find something where to compare. This is fucking good old school hardcore-punk, it won't help how much you hash it over. If you don't know what it sounds like, get this or some other Out Cold record, you will not be disappointed. And you must check them out live when they come here in North Pole again. To be specific, the spirit four times better than from the record.

KAINUUN SANOMAT (FINLAND)
Out cold wasn't born yesterday because Will Attack If Provoked is their fifth album. Band has developed quite remarkable name being part of the punk-scene behind Atlantic. Will Attack If Provoked continue strong traditions of bands previous records, offering very angry and bluntly attacking hardcore. Rushes, which are typical to heirs of Discharge, are also Out Cold's routine. Influences are taken even from rock-side of the punk and sometimes you can feel the subtle touch of metal. Mark Sheehan's voice is painful and strong enough. There's a patience in arrangements and the style is loyal to model of musical influences. The result are very complete, classic-stylish angry hardcore-punk without useless wish-washes and with relatively good sounds. Will Attack If Provoked is excellent example of record which sounds really good, even there is not created anything new.

GROBADER #6 (FRANCE)
3 long years between Warped Sense Of Right & Wrong and Two Broken Hearts… Not their usual rhythm. Proof is Will Attack If Provoked comes right after the latest one. Maybe a line-up problem. Or maybe they had something to do with their lives… Cause they're not pro musicians, they got a life! And therefore that makes them a real band. Dunno if you see what I mean? Their music is close to their heart. And that's actually how they play: with heart and guts. That's obvious on any of their records. The determination, the spite, the rawness of their punk-hardcore just can't be fake. "Attack is the best defense," they say.  If they catch you, you're done.

HEXUS #2/3 (MACEDONIA)
Will Attack...' is the fifth edition of Out Cold.   And once again, 20 minutes of great HC and 14 songs, just like their previous album.  In my opinion this is the strongest album, the rhythm won't leave you indifferent.  And I have some good news for the Macedonian readers: Out Cold will be playing in Kumanovo on January 10.  So, see you then.

CAUSTIC TRUTHS #84 (CANADA)
Roaring & pounding gravelly hc with a great blend of early Boston & ripping UK but mainly with the onslaught of early Dwarves & definitely Zeke. Fast, aggressive & purely pissed off. The songs seem to stress confused thought processing & fragile mental stability. Depending on your reasoning, you may or may not want to listen to this if in the presence of your enemies..

SUBURBAN VOICE #45
The first Out Cold album to feature new guitarist Micah Smaldone (Cops & Robbers / ex-Pinkerton Thugs) and totally kicking ass, as usual.  The production has a bit more full-ness (for want of a better term) but doesn't sacrifice the band's raw hardcore punk sound one bit.  Mark vents his frustrations and anger with typically bile-filled intent and the songs are loud and hard-hitting, mixing up full-on thrash with some mid-tempo compositions.  Blazing stuff and one of the band's best records to date.

ARTCORE #16 (WALES)
Right from the cover art homage to Flag's 'Breakdown', this is early 80s hardcore all the way.  As usual, the whole thing doesn't breach twenty minutes, and as usual, it comes out fighting.  On this record, Out Cold sound a lot like early Poison Idea ('Pick Your King') mixed with bits of early Accused and a hefty dose of midwest gear like the Fix and Negative Approach.   Lyrically, this will appeal to those of the paranoid schizophrenic leaning.   They could fit quite snuggly onto old hardcore compilation EPs like 'Process Of Elimination'.  Now I'm off to smack my face against a wall!

MASS MOVEMENT #11 (WALES)
There are some things you can depend on in life - that the seasons will change, politicians will always be lying, cheating bastards and Out Cold will always be one of the best HC bands in the world. "Will Attack" is a fourteen part doctrine that lays down the law according to the Dracut, MA wrecking machine. Prime time USHC (ala mid '80s Boston) - it's short, it's sweet and it kicks your arse every time. Album uf the issue? Oh yeah!!!!

GAGNAUGAŠ #1 (ICELAND)
Žeir sem voru nógu heppnir aš hafa séš žetta band žegar žeir spilušu ķ MH fyrir ekki svo löngu sķšan vita um hvaš ég er aš tala žegar ég segi aš žetta sé intense.  Ultra-hratt og reitt pönk sem skilur alla eftir ķ losti.  Hér er sko ekki veriš aš stefna į śtvarpsspilun, žetta er EKKI popp.
